The dossier saga continued into the weekend as State Representative Yuri Devlin issued a press release on Friday September 1st responding to The Daily Globe’s article first sharing the infamous dossier. To remind our readers, the source of these claims is a dossier asserted to have been written by the late former Governor of San Andreas, Richard Starr.

The press release emphasized the importance of unbiased reporting and called for higher standards from reputable news sources to provide trustworthy and impartial information to the public. It was also asserted the article lacked journalistic integrity by not seeking comment from the accused individuals and appeared to aim at influencing their election campaigns.

The text of the press release from the state rep is shared below along with a PDF copy attached for ease of reading.

Statement In Regards to the Daily Globe

Paleto Bay, San Andreas — On August 29th, 2023, the news company known as the Daily Globe published an article titled: “Richard Starr’s Dossier is Made Public – Criminal Allegations Against Becks Lawson and Jacob Wheeler”. This article contained a large number of serious allegations against two public figures, both of whom are running for elected office as we speak. While I have no comment or opinion on the allegations themselves, I chose not to run for another term as State Representative in this ongoing election – And therefore, I wish to use the last few days of my time in office to publicly give my opinion on the matter of this article.

In my opinion, what separates true journalism from tabloid attack ads, is journalistic integrity, reporting all of the facts, from a completely unbiased point of view. It is the responsibility of all genuine journalists to report all sides of an issue, to the best of their ability; with accurate and unaltered accounts from all of those involved, when they are able to do so.

It has come to my attention, and the attention of many others, that the Daily Globe did not even attempt to fulfill this quota of integrity with their article. Not once did they attempt to get a comment from either Ms. Lawson or Mr. Wheeler, instead choosing to publish these highly inflammatory accusations in the midst of their campaigns for public office. It deeply concerns me that those at the Daily Globe did not attempt to give these two individuals an opportunity to defend themselves, or provide any kind of statement in regards to the accusations. Not only does it appear that the Daily Globe has chosen to defame these two individuals, but it appears to be doing so in an effort to affect their efforts to be elected.

As I said before. I have no comment or opinion on the accusations contained within the article – But I believe it is my duty, as a State Representative of San Andreas, for the good of the people of San Andreas, to publicly demand better from what should be a reputable news source within our great State. We should be able to trust our local news companies to provide unbiased facts, without ulterior motives.

Signed,

Yuri Devlin

State Representative

Secretary of the Legislature

Ironic how he sends a big press release when Weazel publishes a piece from an anonymous source slamming the current legislature that he is part of. Something smells bad here.
