Throwback Rewind: Charity Concert For Planet Earth

Published

on

On Saturday, April 22nd, the people of San Andreas came together at the Owl Scouts camp for the One Planet: An Earth Day Charity Concert. The concert was held to drive support for the Tortuga Marine Conservation Society and the San Andreas Parks Department. Donations from the concert were split between the two to help fund their programs.

The concert began with Marceline Grey’s opening speech introducing the event. The first to perform was Nick Hulkenstein with his rap tunes. DANTE followed up with his hit songs, including I Miss U, Get Freaky Wit It, and Wavey. Konrad Knives performed next with his beautiful acoustic set of covers. The crowd was blessed with the first three chapters of Jason Tanner’s upcoming EP. Next, the Winkler welcomed new people to the city with his welcoming song, New to the City, followed by his latest song written specifically for the concert, My Earth. Following up was Piper Riggs performing her Summer of ‘95, War with DANTE, Dirt Trail with Brick and Mykie, and Dandelion with Jason Tanners. Closing out the concert was Marceline Grey as g h o s t performing songs from her upcoming EP, Damage Control.

The ArCola Company, Hanging Gardens, and Der Keller were also at the concert with food, drinks, and collectibles. Sales from the vendors went towards donations for the cause. To spread awareness of Earth Day, Marceline encouraged everyone to tweet #EarthDay on Twitter.

The event raised $116,147 from entry fees and vendor sales. Tortuga Marine Conservation Society and the San Andreas Parks Department are thankful for the donations, as the funds will help support them in their missions.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who supported the Earth Day concert and contributed to this important cause. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to continuing to work together towards a more sustainable future. We also want to thank KOKORO for putting on the event and for our rangers, employees, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event possible.

At the Parks Department, we recognize the importance of protecting and preserving our local wildlife and pet populations. With this in mind, we plan to use the money raised from the Earth Day concert to reestablish our Pets and Wildlife division, which will work to ensure that our island is safe and habitable for all animals. This division has been responsible for managing and monitoring the health and well-being of our local wildlife populations, as well as working to prevent and address any issues related to animal welfare in our community in the past, and we’re excited to be back to it.”
