Rockford Hills, San Andreas — The legislature has introduced Articles of Impeachment against t Judge Samuel Openshaw for Misconduct in Office and False Impersonation.

The legislature alleges in a two count resolution that Judge Openshaw acted out after being removed from the Supreme Court, in a decision regarding the appeal of the Elizabeth Walker case.

“Samuel Openshaw, having just been moved from the Supreme Court to now be sitting on the lower court (Circuit Court) acted out in a rash decision to overstep the Chief Justice and undermine the authority of the Supreme Court of San Andreas by dismissing the case with prejudice without merit.”

SPEAKER AUDREY STORM

The resolution goes on further to say that Judge Openshaw allegedly committed false impersonation by writing and signing an opinion on a judicial review when he was no longer a member of the Supreme Court of San Andreas. According to the resolution, Openshaw was removed from the Supreme Court by the Chief Justice on the 19th of September and wrote that Supreme Court opinion on the 1st of October. The opinion in question relates to the decision to uphold H.R. 109, Health and Religion Protection Act

“However, on 1st October 2022 Samuel Openshaw published an opinion of the Supreme Court. This is something he has no right to do as a Circuit Judge, as this is a higher court. … This is False Impersonation of a Government Official as Samuel Openshaw was, by means of deceit, leading members of the public to believe that he was an Associate Justice on the Supreme Courts; which is simply untrue.”

SPEAKER AUDREY STORM

The next step will be a legislature vote on if the impeachment should go ahead. If successful there will be an impeachment trial involving the Chief Justice unless he is conflicted out of the situation.

If the allegations are in fact founded and accurate, the damage to the case surrounding H.R. 109 will be astronomical and a first in San Andreas History.  Its unclear if any changes will occur if the impeachment is successful during an impeachment trial. A Weazel News poll conducted over the last two days found that 64.3% of people were unsatisfied or very unsatisfied with the Judiciary.

At the release of this article, the Judiciary hadn’t responded to the request for comment.

The Governor’s Office released this statement.

The Governor’s and Lieutenant Governor’s Office have no role in impeachment proceedings. Governor Starr and myself have a full and firm belief in the Legislative and Judicial process in this State, and we believe that any decisions made by both branches will be made with impartiality and will have the best interests of the State in mind when considering these allegations.

LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR ADRIAN JAX
