ROCKFORD HILLS, LOS SANTOS (WZL) – San Andreas is ramping up to hold its sixteenth (16th) regular election with the passing of House Resolution 434 by the legislature which set the Fall 2026 election period. With three (3) representative seats, and one (1) governor seat up for grabs, who will rise to the challenge? As with previous elections, ranked choice voting will be held to determine the next set of elected officials in San Andreas.
State Representatives are a vital cog in San Andreas, they are tasked with drafting state laws, voting on civil appointments – such as for new judges or confirming members of the executive cabinet. The Governor’s role is equally important, the governor has the power to sign bills, making them active in addition to filling appointments for various cabinet positions and working with those departments to help facilitate state operations.
State Representative and Gubernatorial registration for the Fall 2026 election opened on Monday June 1, 2026 and will close on Sunday June 7, 2026 at 2pm EST. All candidates must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, cannot have felony charges for the past three (3) months, and must not be currently incarcerated or on parole and must have waited one (1) month since release. See the Fall 2026 State Election Information announcement for further information.

Over the next few weeks, you will hear a lot about Ranked Choice Voting, in a typical voting system each voter chooses their preferred candidate, and the candidate with the most votes wins. With ranked choice voting, voters have the ability to select all candidates and rank them in their most favorable order. If your first candidate doesn’t receive enough votes, your vote goes onto the next candidate – this process continues until one candidate wins a majority of votes.
Ranked choice voting allows voters to have more confidence in their elected officials as the winners have a majority of the public’s confidence. Check out this video, and this video if you want to learn more about the rank choice voting process.
