Press Release: Government Infrastructure Patrols

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 10/16/23

CONTACT: Stan Shifley:

Hello fellow citizens of San Andreas. I would like to take this time to address the current state of security in San Andreas as I feel that the current and past Executive Branch are incredibly out of touch with what our state needs and deserves for security. Merryweather Security has the longest tenure of any security company in San Andreas, protecting the infrastructure of the state for a combined total of over 2 years.

With the current infrastructure security bid, a security company is responsible for roughly 30 days of infrastructure patrols which must be done FOUR times a day EVERY day. This means security is patrolling at these locations 4 times a day, not 24/7 around the clock. These locations include the Power Plant, City Hall, the Ports, and both of the large mansions that the Executive Branch lives at, some of which aren’t even considered government property.

After vetoing a bill to discontinue said patrols, Governor Key has said things such as “it is something that we do have in place already and is better than not having any kind of infrastructure security at all.” and how he thinks that infrastructure patrols are important for “when a door is left unlocked” With the above quotes from Governor Key in mind, the Executive Branch is effectively stating that 4 security sweeps a day and checking door locks is worth $40,000 a month. Funds that could be going to things such as improving physical infrastructure, benefits for government employees, and multiple other events and improvements.

Merryweather has been accused at length of attempting to hold a monopoly in the security field, wanting to simply collect government funds, and even having Representative Wheeler draft bills to benefit Merryweather only. These baseless accusations are quite disturbing and discredit the numerous employees that have put their time and effort into a career in security. Merryweather Security takes on clients in the capacity that we can provide security for and nothing more. We as a company wish all capable, law abiding security companies nothing but success. Merryweather has no interest in conducting business with the government in any capacity based on the topics covered above and we have made that abundantly clear, yet are continued to be accused of seeking a monopoly and tailoring bills to benefit our company.

In closing, it is disappointing to see that the Executive Branch has been out of touch with security for multiple terms. Merryweather Security has made it clear with the Executive Branch numerous times that we are fed up with the current state of security in San Andreas and we will no longer be conducting business in the future with any branch of the government. I sincerely hope that the Executive Branch starts taking the topic of security seriously so the government’s budget can no longer be wasted and put to better uses in the city.
