Published

on

A sad moment occurred for the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) as Undersheriff and former Sheriff Chris Price passed away from a fatal gunshot wound. While the investigation is ongoing, Detective Jay Lamb confirmed that Undersheriff Price was shot in the line of duty and that the BCSO has a suspect. However, the identity of that suspect is unknown at this time.

Due to the investigation’s ongoing nature, Detective Lamb could not confirm or deny any information regarding the suspect or the exact nature of the operation where Undersheriff Price was shot. However, he was able to reveal that the events occurred on May 4th in the early morning, at around two in the morning, eastern San Andreas time.

Officers responded to multiple gunshots, and Undersheriff Price hit his panic button. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found the Undersheriff injured from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Pillbox Medical, where he passed away from his injury.

Acting Sheriff Liam Cavanagh took the time to honor the life of Undersheriff Price, noting his mentorship to many officers within BCSO. When questioned on officer safety, he admitted that the job is very dangerous and that anyone who wears the uniform accepts the risk.

Chris Price served two terms as Sheriff and was the first to hold the position when the BCSO was first founded. Many credit him for the creation of the department. BCSO deputies described him as a kind, approachable man. He was credited with bringing stability and attitude to the department he helped create.

Acting Sheriff Cavanagh told Weazel News that the BCSO is ready to move on and keep doing the work that Undersheriff Price started.

“Price, when he became the Sheriff, made me his Undersheriff. I’m very proud to have served under him. And I was even prouder when he told me I would be taking his place. I hope that, if I’m lucky enough, I’ll be half as good as he was.”
