LOS SANTOS (WZ) — In a statement from the Governor, it’s announced that Associate Justice Elizabeth Williams will be the candidate for the next Chief Justice.
Here is the statement in full:
It is my distinct honor as Governor to announce the nomination of Associate Justice Elizabeth Williams to the position of Chief Justice of the State of San Andreas. Justice Williams has served as Acting Chief Justice since the departure of former Chief Justice Drake Paxton and has served her Office dutifully. Upon leaving office, former Chief Justice Paxton recommended that Elizabeth Williams become the State’s next Chief Justice – a sign of his faith in her abilities in the position. We have strong confidence in Justice William’s ability as a leader and jurist to continue the organizational leadership she has provided for the past several months.
We wish Justice Williams a smooth confirmation process and look forward to cementing her role in the State’s Judiciary.
As the position requires confirmation, the nomination will be sent to the Legislature to confirm the candidate.

Judge Williams has been acting as the Chief Justice since Former Chief Justice Paxton retired a few weeks ago.
The former chief justice has released a statement in response to the nomination:
I am thrilled to hear that the person who I recommended to be my successor has officially been nominated to formally takeover as Chief Justice of the State of San Andreas. It was an honor to work with the honorable Judge Elizabeth Williams during my tenure as Chief Justice, and I have supreme confidence in her ability to take over where I left off. Elizabeth Williams brings experience, knowledge, and wisdom to the Judiciary and I cannot imagine a better successor. I know that she will manage the responsibilities it takes very well and I am sure will be regarded as perhaps the best Chief Justice that this State has ever seen. I congratulate Justice Williams and look forward to what she brings to the Judiciary.
