Initial Appointments and Cabinet Confirmations Completed​

Following the swearing in of Governor @Andrew McKinley and the State Representatives, the State Legislature convened to vote on and assign new roles to the incoming lawmakers. The results were as follows:

Secretary of the Legislature
James Paxton (@Mac Moody)

Following this, Governor McKinley presented the Legislature with four nominations for Cabinet-level positions and one judicial appointment:

For @Rico Alvarez, as Lieutenant Governor—

Rep. Endeavor Jackson voted AYE.
Rep. James Paxton ABSTAINED.

Mr. Alvarez was confirmed by a vote of 2-0.

For Sherry Ann Layfield (@Mercy Kloutz), as Secretary of State—

Rep. James Paxton voted AYE.

Ms. Layfield was confirmed by a vote of 3-0.

For @Maggie Martindale, as Surgeon General—

Dr. Martindale was confirmed by a vote of 3-0.

Justice Paxton was confirmed by a vote of 1-0.

The Legislature is likely to reconvene in a closed session at the end of the week for a hearing on bills to codify basic legislative processes and amend the criminal code. The following bills will be deliberated on:

  • H.R. 001 – Establishment of the Government of San Andreas Act of 2021
  • H.R. 002 – Emergency Amendments to the Criminal Code of San Andreas Act of 2021
  • H.R. 003 – The Government Salary and Pay Schedule Act of 2021
  • H.R. 004 – The San Andreas Flight Regulations Act of 2021

In addition to this, the Legislature will be considering appointments from the Governor for the Attorney General, Los Santos Police Chief, and Blaine County Sheriff.
