Freeman Ain’t Free…

Remember when Tickner, the cop found guilty of animal cruelty, went to jail for his wrongdoings? Well, he died. Maybe he’d be alive if he didn’t refuse to do community service. Tickner was murdered by Jones Freeman in prison, which led to a trial where Freeman murdered a SASS agent with his bare hands. I’m not sure if this guy will ever get the “free” in his last name because that trial ended with a mistrial, and another trial for that murder led him to be sentenced to death after hurting his attorney, Raven Teal. Fun fact: Governor hopeful Dan Lighten, who wants “full abolishment of the death penalty,” proposed the death penalty for Freeman. Do as you will with that information. Anyway, I’m not sure what got Freeman in prison in the first place, but my awareness of this all started because of a dog.

Voting Is Free…

For the price of nothing from your bank account, you can vote for who you believe should be members of the seventh San Andreas Congress. Even if you don’t think your vote counts, it does. Just because you voted last minute doesn’t mean you didn’t vote. So, if you’re struggling or need spark notes of the candidates, here are one, two, three articles for you. This doesn’t even include the ad articles we wrote or the one the LS Diatribes wrote.

The state of San Andreas uses single transferable vote (STV), which means you vote in the order of preference with your top choice first. You don’t have to vote for everyone, but it could make a difference. Go down to City Hall right now to vote. When you enter the building from the main entrance, there are tables on the right. Voting ends tomorrow, Monday, May 8th, at 8PM ET. The election results party will be at 9PM ET, with coverage being broadcasted by us, Weazel News.

Watch Out…

Sniper Gang or WRLDpeace, whatever they call themselves, seems to be back again. They were quiet for some time but have resurfaced on Twitter and in person at locations such as Legion Square. We also have the Brasco/Brasthqo/Brasko group roaming around, claiming their turf (which appears to be everywhere and nowhere at all). This could be due to the confusion around the variation in the spelling of their name. Please be careful out there. 

Starr Gets Sassy…

Not really. You have probably heard this by now; if not, now you have. Richard Starr withdrew from the elections because he wants to go back to SASS. I’m not sure how this changes up the votes, but it’s certainly going to be interesting to see who gets elected as State Representatives.

Safe?

Missing posters of Nurse Delilah Drake were found throughout the city and on Twitter. She went missing earlier this week and was found late Friday night. I’m glad she’s been found, and I hope she’s recovering smoothly from her surgery. (Jason, did you sing to her at the hospital?)

Raving in the 14th Century…

I had Lucie look up what century the Renaissance is from. For the event, we had a much more modern one on Friday at the Galileo Observatory, nicknamed the Galileo Celestial Watchtower. I think a lot of people thought it was a castle, though. Nonetheless, the venue looked super cool, thank you, Choi Zhangsun, and (almost) everyone was dressed for the occasion, thanks to Original Clothing. Guns and knives did exist back then, so that one incident with the minor shooting and the cops showing up was not too much of a time confusion; however, the red and blue wee woo lights on a wee woo car did not exist then so there’s that. 

Just Paleto Things…

Unfortunately, the Paleto Games were canceled due to the lack of participants signing up, but the rest of the events went on. I got help from Sally for the coverage of the Paleto Bay Car Show, Raven Repair Bike Show, and the Food Truck Festival that took place on Friday and Saturday. Here’s what she shared with me:

Chelsea Lafayette was also at the Food Truck Festival and managed to speak with Duke Browning about the event he organized.

“The turnout was great. We had ten different restaurants show up from all over the state. We love to see the different varieties of food that people have from around San Andreas. We love to see people just come out and share their love of food. I’m just really happy to have people come up to Paleto and be part of the community.”

The businesses that took part in the festival included Ari’s Deli, Toe Beans Cat Cafe, Black Hawk Coffee Company, Bento, the ArCola Company, Pop’s Diner, Brimstone Brewing Co., Bishop’s Chicken, and Saucy’s Taqueria. DJ Spooky also played some music there while everyone was hanging out. He’s just a cool dude for being so chill and wanting everyone to have something to groove to.

I love Annie!

She’s a great writer, and she started writing her own thing similar to the Scoops. You should go check out Annie’s Angles. Whenever I think of Annie, I hear her bare feet slapping on the concrete floor. I don’t recognize her when she wears shoes. She did a handstand for me at Raveaissance just so she could show me her bare feet underneath that long dress. I love her.

Stella’s Recommendation of the Week…

It is Sunday, which means I’m going to recommend you something. I’ve been recommending songs or artists every week since I started doing this. Surprise attack! I’m not doing that. Instead, I’m recommending you to vote if you haven’t already. It’s okay to be a last-minute voter. We all procrastinate sometimes, and I definitely do. There’s evidence of me procrastinating every week. You can find that in the timestamp of when these Scoops get published. 

Let me paint you a picture. Instead of pondering about how you’ll vote while waiting at each red light to turn green, you’re blazing through intersections eager to get your “I Voted” sticker. You park your car along the sidewalk where street parking is offered. You run inside to the lobby of City Hall. On your right, you see a couple of white tables with clipboards. You go up to one of the tables and pick up your ballot. On it, you see two lists: one of the governor/lieutenant governor candidates and one of the state rep candidates. You think about how numbers work before you start to rank the candidates from most preferred to least preferred. Once you are finished, you turn in your ballot, and you get your “I Voted” sticker in exchange. You give the polling assistants two thumbs up before walking to your car. You text your friend to let them know you just voted and how easy it was.

It’s now Monday evening. You wait for the clock to strike at 9 o’clock. You want to hang out with your friends, but you also want to know the election results. Without leaving your friends, you pull out your tablet and tune into the live broadcast to watch the election results party live from the vineyard. And then you live happily ever after because you know you voiced your opinion by voting. This isn’t a fairytale world, but you did your part in writing your own story by voting for who you think should be part of the legislature and executive branch for the next four months. Good job, you!
