Stella’s Scoops Volume 83: 6-Month Recap, Part 1

Published

on

Hehe, time flew by, and here we are. Today, I’m here to do a six-month recap on what has happened in the state of San Andreas since I last published a Stella’s Scoops. I know I can’t include everything, so don’t place any bets, because there’s no winning here.

Fly High

Back in November, citizens of San Andreas got the chance to design a new state flag, following the announcement of both the new state animal and flower. Roughly 30 flag submissions were reviewed by the Executive Cabinet, and the top seven designs were chosen to be voted on by the public. With the power of democracy, citizens were given the option to vote for their favorite design. Maxxi Whitescale’s flag design came out on top, featuring both the Cougar and Poppy on the state flag. Today, you can go on a scavenger hunt to find where the state flag is displayed, and then get back to me on that because I have no idea where to see it on display.

This Wasn’t A Thing?

You mean to tell me that you weren’t legally required to move out of the way of an emergency vehicle with sirens on? What is this lunacy?! Common sense?! Anyway, the H.R.384 Amendment to H.R. 354 – Roadside Protection Act (RPA) or (Move Over Law) is now amended and enforced so the San Andreas Traffic Code: Failure to Move Over fine you up to $750 for failing to scoot your butt (car) over. Remember, that siren is loud for a reason, so be aware of your surroundings and get out of the way.

Think Twice Before You Speed…

It’s not like when you pay with a card and forget about how you just spent some thousand dollars on a new collectible. There are now paper receipts, or citations, for when you get tickets for committing a crime on the road. Law enforcement can write citations and will hand you a physical paper copy for you to keep (and frame to remember and regret) because they have new printers equipped inside their vehicles. Fancy stuff! So, slow down on the road, you could be getting a citation, or worse, a felony.

The Final Chapter…

A long time ago, I wrote a whole blurb about the university library, but I never got to publish it. I will now include it here so it gets to be seen by the public.

You’ve probably been inside at least once by now, but the Los Santos University library has never officially opened. The doors have been unlocked, and the building itself has been accessible to the public, but there was nothing grand. That is all until today, Sunday, December 17th. It is on this day that the Board of Education has a grand opening for the LSU library. Back in July, there was a tube football event at the LSU field to raise funds for the launch of library cards. The Board of Education said they make open-domain books available for library cardholders to enjoy. I received my library card last week when I went to get my school photo taken, and it is safe to say that I’m not utilizing my library card to check out books at the LSU library.

Stella Day, Blurb about the library fire

Do I remember why I wrote that? Not really, but my library card was issued back in July of 2023, so it should say something about how long ago I wrote this. I was probably trying to make a joke that I can’t read, so I wouldn’t be utilizing my library card. Anyway, the grand opening never happened, and there was a fire in the library back in November. Happy Holidays and RIP to all those books!

From Free to Fee: Medical Bills Are Back…

You don’t hear from this guy every day, even though he’s like the top dog, but President What’s-His-Face of the United States let us know in a press release back in February that the grant for subsidized medical expenses had concluded. We are now charged with medical bills ranging from $150-$750 per visit, depending on the treatment. It appears that SAMS staff are treating patients pro bono, but if you’re seeking treatment from Dr. Z or other local doctors, then they may not be as generous. Good luck!

He Came and He Went!

The good ol’ Wyatt McKenzie was sworn in as Lieutenant Governor during the 11th Congress, but he bid farewell early during the 12th Congress. We understand that life can be tough, and it’s not easy to be in politics. We appreciate all that he has done for us, and I know that he made the right choice for himself.

“Serving as the 11th Lieutenant Governor has been an honor of my life, we have made great strides in public trust, and am so proud that we have the highest approval rating recorded in our state’s history.”

Former Lt Governor Wyatt McKenzie

You can read the entirety of Wyatt’s heartfelt press release here.

He Came and He Went! Part 2…

Sheriff Chris Stevens announced his retirement last weekend via press release. He started in law enforcement four years ago and worked hard, rising in rank. I am not sure what lies ahead for Stevens, but I do know he has full confidence in Undersheriff Indigo’s ability to thrive as Sheriff Indigo, who was officially sworn in yesterday. I wish him the best on his next chapter.

So Who’s in Charge?

So with the resignation of Wyatt McKenzie, who is in and who is out? Governor Barbant now has Lieutenant Governor Jax Hendrix by his side. As far as representatives, H.R. 366 was passed back in December, which reduced the number of sitting State Representatives from five to three in the legislation. We have Representative Amara Fox-Vasquez, Representative James Hill, and Representative John Corranado. They were elected in February’s regular election.

As for the rest:

Zoomies but Make It Legal… and Virtual

Did you know that there’s a virtual racing league organized and hosted by Knight Imports? Well, there is, and they had a very successful first season. The seven grueling races took place over four weeks in a video game, Forza Motorsport 2023, with commentary from none other than Los Santos’ own famous Formula 1 driver and talented artist, Nick Hulkenstein. With 20 main competitors and 6 reserves under much safer racing conditions, Charlee Frost secured 3rd place, Oliver Fletcher secured 2nd place, and Charlie Marlow claimed the first ever 1st place title of the San Andreas’ official Virtual Racing League. If you didn’t catch the first season in action, the second season is already underway, so make sure you catch the live broadcasts here at Weazel News!

Stella’s Recommendation of the Week…

Speaking of racing legally, you can do that in real life without taking it into the virtual world with the Virtual Racing League. Knight Imports surprised us all by constructing a go-kart track in Vespucci, replacing the skatepark. You can rent your own go-karts and race with your friends. It’s super fun and super legal to do zoomies there.
