PRESS RELEASE: Regarding the Government Fourth of July Event
July 5, 2024

Regarding the Government Fourth of July Event

Governor Ella Bright-Starr contracted the services of our company, Extra Events, to build the venue for the government Fourth of July celebration. While discussing the details of the event, Extra Events made it clear that they as a company build venues for events, and do not plan them. Ms. Bright-Starr agreed and continued to contract our services. We will go on the record to state that she did pay us for our work.

On July 5, we were contacted by vendors, and other government officials, who stated they were told by Ms. Bright-Starr that, “Extra Events is planning the event, speak to them for direction.”

Extra Events, a leading construction company, would like to clarify its position and role within the industry. Contrary to what our name might suggest, Extra Events is not an event planning company. Instead, we specialize in construction services and work closely alongside esteemed event planning firms like Blissful Events. We enjoy bringing the visions of the event planners to life in our structures and attention to detail on all of our constructed work.

Our Mission

At Extra Events, our mission is to provide top-notch construction services, ensuring that event planners have the perfect foundation and infrastructure for their events. From building stages and temporary structures to ensuring all safety standards are met, our team is dedicated to excellence in every project we undertake. Extra Events has built a reputation for quality, reliability, and innovation in the construction industry. Our experienced team of professionals is equipped to handle projects of all sizes, from small installations to large-scale constructions. We are committed to exceeding our clients’ expectations and contributing to the success of their events.

Collaboration with Event Planners.

We are proud to collaborate with industry-leading event planning companies, including Blissful Events. These partnerships allow us to focus on what we do best—construction—while our event planning partners handle the creative and logistical aspects of event management. This synergy ensures that every event is executed flawlessly, with beautiful and safe environments for guests to enjoy.

This past June, we built and coordinated our own event, the Renaissance Faire. As this was our own event, we planned it ourselves in-house. However, this is not a service we offer to our clients.

We hope that this clarifies our position in the industry, and are happy to provide our perspective and position in the current situation as to why the government-sponsored Fourth of July Event will not occur.

Regardless, our in-house Personal Assistant, Amber Kemp, has gone out of her way to ensure that some sort of entertainment is provided for the government, even though our venue is not going to be used. She is currently working with Representative Jack Burton as a courtesy.

Jack Burton has reached out to us and spoken with us about all of the confusion. With all of the discombobulation, He and other community members have decided to move the weekend to one day, Saturday July 6th, at 5p EST, at The Vespucci Beach Wooden Club. We hope everyone has had a safe 4th of July and have a wonderful weekend.
