Lilith Eza-Ripley: From State Representative to Secretary of State

Lilith Eza-Ripley, a State Representative in the 9th Congress, was sworn into office as Secretary of State by Magistrate Sunny Dae-Cavanagh today at the courthouse. The nomination for Lilith Eza-Ripley was made on June 9, 2024, and passed through the legislature on June 17, 2024.

What are the Secretary of State’s duties?

According to the Government Executive Forms and Information page, “The Secretary of State, as the name suggests, is the secretary to the state. Their priority is the state and its best interest above all else. They work closely with the Governor and Lt. Governor and are second in the line of succession after the Lt. Governor. They plan Town Halls with the Speaker of the Legislature, oversee the Notary applicants with the Judiciary, and serve as the press liaison for the Executive Office. They also serve an advisory role to the Executive Office as they have a unique position that requires them to interface with citizens on a regular basis, giving them a stronger connection to the wants and needs of the citizens”.
