Los Santos, San Andreas – This weekend, Representative Becks Lawson announced a first for San Andreas; the formation of a political party. In an exclusive interview with Weazel News, we sat down with the two-term politician to learn the background of this latest development and her vision for the state’s political future.

Based on her experience as a veteran legislator, Representative Lawson feels our government needs more organized political action to be effective in representing the needs of the people. Working in partnership with Secretary of State Wyatt Diaz, she has stepped forward as the acting leader of the fledgling Progress Party, San Andreas’ first official political group.

Bringing their political experience and ambition under one well-aligned umbrella, the Progress Party aims to be a proactive influence on the direction of our government. They feel this party can provide infrastructure for sustained political success that will ensure voters are represented beyond the terms of an individual candidate. To further organize the party as a united front, they’ve created three major tenets for their platform.

Speaking on this first pillar, Representative Lawson noted that there are many people who are struggling to be a normal part of our society, whether they’re dealing with a criminal past, addiction, or other aspects of their lives that have put them on the back foot. The Progress Party will sponsor legislation that ensures citizens of San Andreas are well-supported and given a chance to succeed in their life ambitions.

The Progress Party also believes that punishment for crimes isn’t the only solution to this ongoing plague on our society. We need systems that help people rehabilitate as well as treating the causes of crime, rather than simply being reactive to the crimes committed. They believe the justice system can be reformed to address these problems more elegantly than the policies we have in place today.

Finally, the Progress Party believes in establishing stronger infrastructure to support governmental operations. Putting the right systems in place to ensure the effectiveness of our departments and legislative processes is paramount to successfully addressing the needs of our citizens, according to Representative Lawson.

This endeavor isn’t one she intends to embark on alone, either. In addition to Secretary Diaz, who is already listed on the party’s website, Representative Lawson stated that additional figures in the state’s political scene would be announcing their involvement with the Progress Party in the coming days and weeks. More information on the party itself can be found on their website, sa-progress.com. With this exclusive first look at the state’s first political party, be sure to check back right here on Weazel News for further announcements as this story develops.
