Welcome back to part 2 of the 6-month recap. It was getting lengthy, so I decided to split it into two parts. Equally important and definitely not forgotten, like the middle child.
Ball is Life…
We can never get enough of law enforcement playing sports on a field for entertainment, because sometimes there are dogs who show up to play too! Well, at least that’s why I like to watch sports sometimes. For others, I think they might actually care about the ball of the foot.
Anyway, we had the 2nd Annual Patrol Bowl, which started with BCSO Cougars competing with the SAPD Hornets for the county series title and the LSPD Huskies competing with the SASP Pounders for the city series title. The BCSO Cougars and the LSPD Huskies won their first games, so they faced each other in the championship game. Larry Tate performed at the halftime show, and all was broadcasted live on Weazel News. All the sweat paid off because the BSCO Cougars took home the Patrol Bowl Championship title with a 79-66 win. Congrats, players and K9!

In Honor…
Ket Cadelson was a well-beloved check pilot with the San Andreas Flight Authority. He passed away in a tragic helicopter accident. Since then, Governor Jeremy Barbant has designated a service hangar at the Sandy Shores Airfield as the Ket Cadelson Memorial Service Hangar.

Check It Out…
If you aren’t in the loop on new renovations in the city, then it’s likely that you missed one that I find to be quite major. I think most people are very curious when it comes to changes because everyone wants to see what’s new, so it’s hard to find people who don’t know what’s going on. After moving to the La Mesa location over two years ago, Public Works finally added brick and mortar to its HQ. The offices, kitchen, lockers, and lounge area can now be found underneath a contractor-approved roof. The grass area behind the toy hut has received some love and is ready for the summer days. If you find yourself curious enough and want to see the Public Works HQ in person, then you should go stop by and take a look because photos won’t do it justice.

New Phone, Who Dis?
Well, coming soon, there will be new phones. iFruit has revealed the iFruit X, a major upgrade compared to the phones we’ve been using for the past four years. We will be able to rearrange the homescreen apps so they can be in alphabetical order or rainbow order. We can have group messages with up to 15 friends to figure out who is planning my surprise birthday party. We can block spam calls, and yes, my fridge is still running fine. We will have the EyeFind Browser so all the regularly sought out websites will be all in one place. And those are just the features highlighted in the video.
If you want to want to know more about the new phone, then I highly suggest you read Erin’s article about the phone. Otherwise, you get to surprise yourself when you get your hands on the brand new phone when it comes out soon! (Seriously, it’s awesome!)
Fast and Faster…
Just last month, Chief Justice Rajesh Gupta announced in a press release that there’s a new expedited trial procedure to help move cases through the courts faster. I thought the Speedy Trial and Bail Act of 2022, then appealed, and is now replaced by the Speedy Trial and Bail Act of 2024, already did that, but perhaps not fast enough. Reading is hard, but I think the Speedy Trial Act only requires trials to start within 21 days of filing.
It looks like the new expedited trial procedure would allow trials to be held within just 7 days if both parties agree to it and a suitable time is found. It does require flexibility in terms of scheduling and considering different legal counsel if the timing is right, but the human can’t fit the time. If what I understand from reading is true, then it sure is exciting. I hope this makes things less stressful for all parties, and people can learn from their mistakes faster by going through trials sooner rather than later.

Stella’s Recommendation of the Week…
So this is actually Erin’s idea. Last week, we went to Cayo Perico for a little trip, but then there were accidents, and that’s a whole other story. Anyway, when we arrived there by helicopter, we rented cars. Erin wanted something that was 4-door, so it could fit as many of us as possible without renting too many cars. Well, you see, Erin loves her Seminole Frontier and Canis Terminus, so we were looking for something similar. We were just guessing from the list based on the names of the cars and chose the Annis Trailwilder. It turned out to be a 4-door off-road vehicle. How perfect! It was only $250 to rent the car, and it had everything we needed for our little trip around the island. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short, but the point is, rental cars are cheap! Go rent a car and go on an adventure with your friends! Have some fun (and be safe)!

Have a Stella Day and a hardcore night, San Andreas!
