Notice: The PolitPoll is independent polling completed by Harry Kennedy and published by Weazel News to share the analysis further with the public.
The First polling in over a year has finally been completed, and since it is an election
season should give some interesting insights into what our state wants for the future.
We are in for a heated battle, with an attack ad and attack website floating around the
the state pointed at each governor candidate.
Incumbent Governor Damien Key leads in the initial polling with a strong 60%. This is a
significant positive against his first preferences during the 2023 Summer election, receiving 55.73% of first preferences against three other candidates. Becks Lawson received 40% of the first preferences of those surveyed. She would need a swing of more than 10% in order to win the governorship.
We asked viewers about their previous votes from the Autumn election, and roughly 35%~ of Damien Key voters in the last election said they are voting for Becks Lawson this time, with the remaining 60%~ staying with Damien Key.
While every House of Representative candidate has been automatically elected due to the state no-contest policy for five or fewer registered candidates, Joanna Poole and Artemis Blackthorne command a strong 30%+, respectively, of the first preferences of those surveyed.
The following is a visualization of the estimated preference based on the voter’s
governor and first representative preferences. A Majority of Lawson and Key
supporters support Joanna Poole and Artemis Blackthorne. Almost no Lawson supporters put Lilith Stark as a first preference.
-From Harry Kennedy
Based on second preferences, A 1/3 of support flows to Emilie Paxton, then Lucas
Evans.
Since this is the first and final poll of the 8th Congress, there is no measure for approval or performance over time. Any result here is only indicative of the time when the poll was taken,
which was from the 28th to the 30th of December 2023.
Damien Keys’s approval is positioned below half, with 46.7% of respondents approving. 30% said they disapproved, and 23.3% were undecided.
In context against other Governors, Key is ahead in approval for a polling sample just before election day. (Noting one was not conducted before Starr contested an election)
