Dear Dolores: Should I Pay Someone To Marry Me?

Published

on

Dear Dolores,

Someone (I won’t mention her name) said she could be my wife if I paid her $500k but I fear for my life. I saw her at an Ammunation with a hunting rifle in her hand. Not sure how I feel about it. Do you think she is gonna kill me if I hand over money or should I just pursue this opportunity? I’m conflicted….

— Scared But Excited

Dear Scared But Excited,

If you are approached with an opportunity such as this where you are asked to pay a sum of money for something that does not typically involve a financial transaction, this is usually a scam.

On the one hand, she could be a hunting enthusiast. If you share that hobby in common, you may have the basis of a friendship or something more. However, if she is offering her hand in marriage for $500k, I would at the very least advise you to have a prenuptial agreement drafted if this is something you intend to pursue. It is not illegal to request financial or other compensation in return for marriage in San Andreas, but it is not something I can or would recommend for a variety of reasons.

If you find yourself fearing for your personal safety at any point with any relationship, romantic or otherwise, please seek help from law enforcement and/or DHS. There are systems in place to keep you safe.

— Love, Dolores
