LOS SANTOS (WZ) — Today the Los Santos Police Department has released the monthly set of Crime Statistics.
Today the statistics show once again that the rate of arrests have risen across the state and in some notable areas.
All Categories
The General trend is that Charges related to crime have gone up sharply in all categories except Controlled Substance charges. It’s clear that more charges are being laid meaning, more arrests and more crime is being noticed and action is being taken or, has the crime rate of San Andreas risen also and the police departments are still well behind tackling crime effectively. We analyse the categories down below.
Violent Charges
Violence is constantly a problem and it looks like it’s getting worse with the rate of violent charges being made increasing on average in June. On the 16th 46 charges were made on a single day, a record for violent charges since records began. The number of reported shootings by Media outlets across the state have also increased in recent weeks. At Weazel News 3 shootings have occurred near our headquarters, with one being caught on camera and an employee vehicle being shot at. It’s clear that gang activity in areas in Los Santos is contributing to the increase in charges being made, it also helps that police have larger numbers to respond to these situations, which also will cause a rise in charges being made.
Property Charges
Charges surrounding property have increased the most in recent months. New laws expanding on property rights and the ability to purchase new homes have allowed a rise in property charges. On the 23rd of June, 58 property charges were filed by law enforcement, a record in any category. Reports from the field have also shown an increase number of people being caught breaking and entering into locals homes across the state, a clear indication of a worsening crisis surrounding petty and felonious theft
Traffic Charges
It’s clear that the people of San Andreas are in a hurry with charges regarding traffic offences rising in the last month peaking at 46 charges in 24 hours on the 21st of June. Rates of traffic offences were stable in May, and slightly in decline by the beginning of June, however from 10th onwards, traffic violations recorded skyrocketed and have been on the rise since.
Controlled Substance Charges
Controlled Substance Charges are quite rare in San Andreas, for the first few months there were days without a single charge being made, However in May the prohibition regarding dispensaries and marijuana allowed police to arrest people who possessed the now legalised drug. While the rate of consistent charges being laid has died down, the positive upward trend of charges remained with a higher count then before the prohibition in May.
Misc Charges
The increase in Misc Charges can be directly correlated to new laws being introduced by the Legislature over time. As they add laws the police can charge people for things which may not fit into the other categories. Big Law reform bills being passed typically caused a small spike of charges being made before it returns to a normal upward trend.
