Breaking News: Smoke on the Water closes doors effective immediately, hoping to only be a temporary situation.

Weazel News has learned from two Tweets this morning that the Smoke on the Water business will be temporarily closing their doors. Cody Long, the owner of the establishment, first Tweeted about the closure at 10:39 A.M. Eastern Standard time with an “Announcement from the Smoke on the Water Team: it is with a heavy heart we announce the end of Smoke on the Water as a business. We thank each and every one of our clients and will appreciate the memories forever. Expect elaboration to come soon, but for now please be understanding.”

Shortly after, Mr. Long sent another Tweet, elaborating further on the situation, stating an “Update from the Smoke on the Water Team: We want to make it abundantly clear that while this closure is indefinite, there is always the potential for reopening. The laws are not in place to support us currently, and to an extent, we understand that. We do not have the skills to correct this, and would like to give it some time.

Weazel News reached out to Mr. Long for a statement and he has stated that he will be sending a written correspondence for Weazel to publish on his behalf, but in the meantime he remains optimistic that this should only be a temporary situation and he will be starting the proper legal measures to ensure his company can reopen in the near future.

Please stay with Weazel News for updates as this is a Breaking situation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Update:
(11:24 AM EST)

Mr. Long has reached out to Weazel News with a statement he would like released to the public. In an e-mail, Mr. Long writes:

“It has been the primary objective of Smoke on the Water to provide medical and recreational cannabis since its conception. In the courts eyes, however, this is no longer a possibility. Smoke on the Water is indefinitely closing as a business due to the lack of legal support behind it. It should however be noted that, to an extent, we at Smoke on the Water understand this. The city is young, and as are its laws. We will be working hard lobbying for this to change as soon as the new government is elected and settled. The closing of Smoke on the Water should be seen as more of a necessary break as we give the government the time it needs to correct itself. Our work is not yet even close to over, and while we can no longer be supplying cannabis to the people, we will still be here for you.

For now, we have done all that we can. Stay eager for our reopening as soon as the means for such are provided.

With thanks and love,
Cody Long,
Smoke on the Water”

This is still a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as time passes.
