Very Gay Weekend…

Not sure how many pride related events you attended, but there were a ton this weekend, at least that’s how it felt to me. There was the Born This Way Bash in the Cypress Flats hosted by Brimstone Brewery on Thursday. Then, on Friday, there was a pride ride and a party at Cockatoos. Saturday was so long with Pride Day being an official state holiday. There was a Bingo event at the Little Teapot to start off the day, then there was the San Andreas Pride Parade and Festival. There were lots of businesses and community members involved to celebrate pride. The Red Fox was there with a photobooth with money being donated to the San Andreas Queer Alliance. The photos I saw on Twitter turned out awesome, and I’m not going to brag about how I helped take some of the photos too. You can also find photos from the parade and festival in The Daily Globe. There was also a drag contest which was a collaboration between San Andreas Medical Services (SAMS), Original Clothing, and Cockatoos. I believe Maxine will be writing an article all about the drag contest and the cool outfits from the event.

Even though it was a Saturday, Hawkins Hideout closed out the state holiday with their pride night. The weekend didn’t end there. I’m writing this as we get into the Pride Catwalk at Shadowcade. It’s really nice to see how much this state celebrates different sexualities, gender identities, and, overall, all the pride.

Just because the state’s pride holiday has already passed, it doesn’t mean we stop celebrating pride. There’s stuff going on this coming week for pride too. Scroll down for the list of upcoming events, so you know what’s up.

Update on Carmen…

If you don’t know my lovely friend, Carmen, then you probably don’t know that she’s been found. Well, she’s been found. Vincent Darling, one of the three people who began the search for her when she first went missing, thanks her friends and family’s efforts in searching for her. I’m really glad Carmen is safe and back with her friends and family. I missed her a lot.

Ribbiting News…

There’s no way you missed the release of the latest toys at Public Works. On the off chance that you didn’t, there are now frogs, sharks, and nessies being sold at Public Works HQ in La Mesa. Head on down for the pride collection before they are gone from the toy hut forever on July 20th.

Ghost…

I need to check in with the rangers about this one, but I was up on Mt. Gordo earlier this week, and I couldn’t find the ghost. I know the ghost only comes out at a certain time in the night, but without the campsite and campfire at the top of Mt. Gordo, I couldn’t figure out where the spot to see the ghost was.

A Big Deal…

On Friday, the Department of Human Services (DHS) hosted an event to bring awareness to men’s mental health. The Collector recognizes that society often overlooks men’s health by dismissing their call for help and how we need to get rid of the stigma. DHS is available to listen and talk to help you if you need any support about anything. You can find them in the Fed Finder. In addition to the good food and drinks at the event, Jason Tanners, Mugsy Banks, Dante Gravina, and V performed at World’s End Pub. Remember, men’s mental health is a big deal and just as important as anyone else’s mental health.

Stella’s Recommendation of the Week…

Relax! With all the celebrations this weekend, it’s time to recover from the partying before next weekend’s festivities. Lay down somewhere comfortable and relax. Take a moment to admire the weather and see if you spot any shapes in the clouds.
