Owl Scouts Launch

Did you know that the Owl Scouts is a new program here to teach us leadership and life skills? The program launched this weekend, and so far, word on the trail is that there are plenty of badges to earn and many friends to make. It’s a volunteer-based program, so join as a scout or maybe become a troop leader if you have what it takes. Chelsea from The Daily Globe did some interviewing and has more to say about it.

If you’re interested in joining the Owl Scouts, you can register and hopefully start earning badges to fill up your sash. Side note: the San Andreas Parks Department is also hiring parks employees for those who are interested in doing “ranger” things without the law enforcement responsibilities.

SAPD Geocaching

Aside from the Owl Scouts program launch, the San Andreas Parks Department also launched their geocaching fun a couple weeks back. I haven’t done it yet, so I don’t have the information to share with you, but maybe next week?

Get Fried…

Who knew we could have an event based around fried chicken? I didn’t know until Thursday. Bishop’s Chicken hosted a Fried Fest in honor of National Fried Chicken Day. What a day! There were performers on the chicken stage and fighters in the chicken wing ring. Out of the many chicken fights, Saige Neoni took third place with a $2,500 cash prize. Danny “Cluck Norris” Murphy won second place with a $5,000 cash prize. And finally, in first place was other Stella “Southern Fried Chicken” Quinn, winning a KOI Saya and a $10,000 cash prize. The people from Blood Night Bouts were thankful for EMS being there for the chickens when they get fried.

As for the golden egg hunt, my friend and colleague Rhylee Finke and her team won first place. Prizes for the egg hunt included a SAMS penny board and Bishop’s vouchers. Congrats to all the winners from the event on their eggs-cellent job, and thank you to Bishop’s Chicken for the eggs-traordinary event!

Speaking of SAMS…

There are still two nursing academies this month if you’re interested in working at Pillbox. If you want to be a doctor or do other things at the hospital, reach out to the directors and see about joining in on a class next month.

Stella’s Recommendation of the Week…

You know what’s a great hobby? Fishing. Why? Because it’s a life skill, but it can also feed you and earn you an income. Plus, it has a relaxing side of life to it. Rhylee took a deep dive into fishing last year. What a throwback! Anyway, enjoy this photo of a fishing trip from last summer.

Have a Stella Day and a hardcore night, San Andreas!
