ROCKFORD HILLS  (WZL) —At the public Legislature meeting last week, James Paxton announced his intention to resign from the legislature in order to pursue becoming a judge. In a statement released by the Governor’s Office, he indicated intent to resign on the 14th of July.

While my time as a representative has been fruitful, I believe that I would be better suited to serve the State in other ways. I am confident in my fellow Representatives and have enjoyed working with them these past few months.

According to the press release below, the Governor intends on appointing a replacement “should one become available”.

Rockford Hills (City Hall) — James Paxton announced last night at the July public representative meeting that he intends to resign his representative seat effective July 14, 2022.

Paxton has served the San Andreas government for some time now, serving as State Representative during the 1st San Andreas Congress and as the governor for the 2nd Congress. Paxton is known for his work drafting the state constitution, establishing San Andreas Pride Day, and signing/creating other vital pieces of legislation for San Andreas.

Paxton said in a statement “While my time as a representative has been fruitful, I believe that I would be better suited to serve the State in other ways. I am confident in my fellow Representatives and have enjoyed working with them these past few months.

As outlined in the San Andreas constitution, the governor can appoint someone to a representative seat after the halfway point of the term, should one come available.

From the San Andreas State Constitution: “Subsection III – Vacant Seats: If a Representative dies, resigns, or is removed from office during their term, their seat shall be considered vacant. If there is less than 2 months remaining in the regular term, the Governor may appoint a Citizen of the State of San Andreas that is eligible to serve to that seat. If there is greater than two (2) months remaining in the regular term, a Special Election shall be held to contest the seat democratically.”

The executive is saddened to see Representative Paxton resign but wishes him luck in his future endeavors.
