I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever observed a government make such a big show of making it look like they are doing something while actually doing so little. Is it just me? We as a state are faced with a very obvious, if not clunky and uninspired, terroristic threat. The actions of Mutiny are owned by one, if not more, individuals. They have an active presence on social media. They have claimed responsibility for the power interruptions and cybersecurity hacks to government departments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A \u201cstate of emergency\u201d has been declared, ascribing the recent power outages to \u201crolling blackouts\u201d, but what does this state of emergency mean? What actions are being taken to mitigate these power interruptions? What effect will this state of emergency have on the average citizen? If the goal of this state of emergency is to alert everyone that the power grid is in jeopardy, the lack of power over the past several days has already achieved that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRolling blackouts\u201d are systematic, temporary power outages that help bring balance to the supply and demand of electricity in the market. The power interruptions that we have been dealing with for the past several days are very clearly not that. The government attempting to disguise the disruptive actions of a terrorist group as a regular, planned event, is frankly extremely alarming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The complete lack of information on the state of the investigation into Mutiny and their actions is unconscionable. Has anything been done to secure our necessary utilities? It\u2019s power today; what happens if this group gains access to water controls? The gas supply? What is our government doing to protect us and our resources? If the goal of the complete blackout of information to the public is to prevent widespread panic, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s working. We deserve to know what is being done to secure and protect ourselves and our resources. Instead, we are being kept in the dark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
