Suddenly, it all stopped.\u00a0FlyUS, headquartered in Liberty City, one of the nation&#8217;s oldest airlines, had become the latest victim of a targeted DDoS attack, resulting in complete disruption of their ticket sales and credit card processing systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"990\" height=\"362\" src=\"https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FlyUS-logo.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4999\" srcset=\"https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FlyUS-logo.webp 990w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FlyUS-logo-300x110.webp 300w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FlyUS-logo-768x281.webp 768w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FlyUS-logo-650x238.webp 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Their aging technology and outdated cyber security infrastructure allowed FlyUS to be compromised and become victim to a ransomware attack, holding its network and the credit card information of over 500,000 customers hostage. At the time, FlyUS representatives claimed the service disruption was due to a \u201ctemporary data center outage\u201d, but they\u2019ve been less forthcoming as the weeks stretched on without resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"363\" src=\"https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/flyus-plane-1024x363.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4997\" srcset=\"https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/flyus-plane-1024x363.webp 1024w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/flyus-plane-300x106.webp 300w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/flyus-plane-768x272.webp 768w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/flyus-plane-650x231.webp 650w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/flyus-plane.webp 1150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement released this week to various circles of the dark web and inevitably leaked to the public forums, hacktivist organization Mutiny has taken responsibility for an alleged virus,\u00a0which they claim continues to lock FlyUS out of its own airline ticket transaction system to this day.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>FlyUS profited long enough off carelessness toward the safety of their passengers and employees. We obtained documented evidence that they bribed numerous safety inspectors, and that the planes operating in their fleet today are not safe, having been in continuous service for over 40 years. Our only way to cease all operations and ground their dangerous flights was to halt their ticketing system. FlyUS, you owe your customers, the people, and the world an explanation, and until your airline is modernized and brought in line with modern safety regulations, you will not fly us.<\/p><cite>Mutiny<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MutinyLogo.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5002\" srcset=\"https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MutinyLogo.webp 500w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MutinyLogo-300x180.webp 300w, https:\/\/weazel-news.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MutinyLogo-400x240.webp 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While FlyUS has yet to confirm these claims, their ticket sales are still unavailable as the corporation hemorrhages profits from days of non-operation. Their stock has dropped 65% in the last six weeks, causing a precipitous decline in the entire airline sector.
