It started with a padlock on the garage door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It ended with one of the most talked-about business decisions Los Santos has seen in months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beeker’s Garage<\/strong>, the Wear & Tear shop many Paleto and northern residents relied on for everything from routine repairs to late-night fender-bender rescues, has officially been suspended by the Department of Commerce & Labor (DoCL)<\/strong> following the departure of its previous registered owner Rick Happyleaf. Under current business policy, the business is now headed to public auction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the decision follows established regulations, it has ignited an emotional response across the state. Within hours of the announcement, more than 100+ residents<\/strong> had signed a community petition (which can be viewed and signed here)<\/a><\/em> supporting longtime manager Nick Murray<\/strong>, with the hashtag #NickForOwner<\/strong> spreading across Yeeter as customers, employees and fellow business owners voiced their opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps the biggest casualty isn’t the building. It’s the people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Beeker’s Garage suspended until the DoCL auction and new owner is selected, employees suddenly found themselves without their primary source of income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Weazel News reached out for comment, Nick Murray shared his thoughts on the community’s reaction:

“I’ve seen a lot of frustration from just about everyone. Our employees are upset because they’ve lost a job they loved and could always rely on. Customers and community members are disappointed because they’ve lost a Wear & Tear shop they say was ‘almost always open or available.’ But after that initial frustration, I’ve seen an overwhelming amount of support. People I haven’t spoken to in weeks or even months have reached out to offer their condolences, encouragement, and help in any way they can. It’s been truly incredible.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murray describes many of them as family<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of preparing for an auction, Murray says he’s been calling other businesses throughout Los Santos trying to help his staff find temporary work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s heartbreaking,”<\/em> one longtime customer told Weazel News outside the shuttered garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If your car broke down in Paleto, you called Beeker’s. They were almost always there.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weazel News reached out directly to Department of Commerce & Labor Officials George Thoreau<\/strong> and Todd Sinclair<\/strong> to clarify the decision surrounding Beeker’s Garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their response was clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of this publication, DoCL had not received notice and was not aware of a petition regarding Beeker’s Garage. However, department officials told Weazel News that community petitions and public support campaigns will not<\/span> influence the auction process or the final ownership decision<\/strong>. Instead, every applicant will be assessed through DoCL’s official application, contest, and interview process to determine who is best qualified to operate the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DoCL Officials also confirmed that, because Beeker’s Garage no longer has a legal owner following Rick’s departure, the business cannot continue operating while the ownership process is underway. The department further explained that Wear & Tear businesses are designated as auctionable properties under current policy<\/strong>, meaning ownership cannot simply be transferred directly from one individual to another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications for prospective owners will open on July 24<\/strong> and remain open until August 2<\/strong>, after which the successful applicant will be selected through the established process<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite DoCL standing firmly behind its policy, public support for Nick Murray continues to gain momentum. When shown screenshots of the growing petition and the grassroots “Yeeter” campaign, Murray admitted he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the public and previous staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If successful in the auction, Nick Murray says residents shouldn’t expect sweeping changes at Beeker’s Garage. Instead, his goal is to preserve the culture and reputation that have made the business a staple for Paleto Bay while expanding community events and ensuring the garage remains a welcoming place for customers, employees, and newcomers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s be honest, Paleto Bay has survived jewelry store robberies, crucifixions, questionable fishing stories, and at least three mysterious cult sightings each week. But apparently, the one thing capable of bringing the entire town to a standstill is the possibility of losing everyone’s most reliable mechanic spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upcoming DoCL auction will determine who takes ownership of Beeker’s Garage. Whether the keys ultimately end up in the hands of Nick Murray or another successful bidder remains to be seen. One thing, however, is certain: the people of Los Santos are watching closely, and this is one auction that has captured the attention of an entire community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
