Third (Fourth?) Time’s The Charm…

This year was the third annual Pride Day for San Andreas. Declared as a state holiday in December 2021 by Governor James Paxton, the state celebrates Pride Day every year following the first Pride Parade, which occurred on June 24th, 2021. This year, June 24th fell on a Monday, but people came out to Vespucci Beach to celebrate per usual. There were vendors, music, and photos. I found the celebration just right.

Legion Square Unpleasantry…

We all know Legion Square as a place of chaos. From the popular bank location to the convenient parking lot, lots can happen in this rectangular square. This includes illegal parking and a shootout. According to Deputy Chief Gabriella Kennedy’s press release, the police found a scene of over 15 illegally parked vehicles at Legion Square on Sunday and proceeded to get the vehicles towed and out of the way. Somehow, this led to an individual pulling out a weapon, which led to the shootout. If you ask me, that sounds like a typical Legion Square event. Whatever the case may be, it certainly did not seem like a pleasant time to be in Legion Square.

Town Hall…

The lovely Rhylee Finke was present at Town Hall yesterday to record and take notes. I think the biggest update was regarding State Representative Cassie Kendrick. She resigned from her position as State Representative, and a Special Election will be held starting July 12th to 15th to fill the vacant position that now exists. Registration for the position will begin on July 4th. The Events Committee is also planning for some sort of 4th of July celebration for the weekend. Be on the lookout for that because that is indeed this coming weekend.

Proof of Resilience…

In the midst of a Pride event hosted by KOKORO, “an absolute douchebaguette,” as Remy Fitzgerald yeeted, disrupted the celebration with gunfire. The disruption also caused multiple vehicles to explode and really affected the vibe. Regardless of it all, the crowd made sure everyone received the help they needed and continued on with the programming at KOKORO Plaza. Not even violence can take away from celebrating pride. During the open mic, there were musical performances as well as a bit of stand-up comedy. Unfortunately for Pax, his jokes got him kicked off stage, but I’m sure he’ll have no problem finding another opportunity to share the fun.

  • July 7th @ TBD ET: National Day of Rock & Roll

Stella’s Recommendation of the Week…

As Pride month comes to an end, I hope that you had the time to celebrate yourself in a way that fits you, whether that means attending pride events or taking some time to yourself. Now can be the time to reflect on how the month went for you. Were there moments that you wish you had cherished before it ended? Were there moments filled with regret and sorrow? Were there moments of joy and happiness that you wish to hold forever? However pride month may have been like for you, I hope that it has been one filled with growth. There are six more months of 2024, all of which I hope are filled with good times.
