Rockford, Los Santos – In the wake of Representative Blackthorne’s resignation, Speaker of the Legislature Joanna Poole introduced H.R. 321 – A Resolution to Call a Special Election – March 2024 on the evening of Thursday, February 29, and has just passed with a unanimous vote from the Legislature. The resolution calls for a special election to fill the vacant State Rep seat. H.R. 321 as defined by the San Andreas Constitution. Article II, Section II, Subsection III clearly outlines this course of action when there is a vacant seat in the Legislature:
The resolution puts forth a tight schedule for the special election:
Registration: March 7th – 10th
Campaign Period: March 10th – 15th
Voting: March 15th – 18th
Announcement and Swearing-In: March 18th – 19th
For those aspiring to answer the call to public service there are requirements to register as a candidate for State Representative as defined by Article II, Section II, Subsection II of the San Andreas Constitution.
In order to register as a Candidate for State Representative, an individual must:
Be at least 18 years of age;
Be a citizen of San Andreas for at least one month; and
Have no felony convictions within the past three months.
