Cartel War Reaches Climax in Mexico

In Mexico City, a war between two drug trafficking organizations has come to a bloody end. Mexican authorities and government report that a local gang known as “Las Arañas”, or “The Spiders”, found themselves at war with the Colombian Los Dolientes Cartel. The war began over turf within the Mexican capitol, and ended with the the reported deaths of Las Arañas’ leaders in a bloody massacre. Los Dolientes Cartel, Spanish for “The Mourners” has been operating since the 1980’s and is currently South America’s largest drug cartel.

US intelligence reports that there has never been indication of this elusive, clandestine group operating within the United States. The U.S. State Department issued the following statement regarding the violent conflict; “We believe this ongoing conflict will be mediated by the Mexican government. We will work effortlessly with international partners & agencies to ensure that such groups find no solace and refuge in the United States. We have assurances from the Mexican administration that this criminal organization and those responsible for the violence will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
