July Got Town Hall’d

Congratulations to Adrian Jax for being the new State Public Defender, aka the Head of PDO! I know I was always seeing her clocked in on the Fed Finder app before doing law things, so this seems like a good place for her expertise. The mention of copyright stuff regarding H.R. 246 was brought up. I remember it being brought up the week I wrote Scoops Volume 23, which was over a month ago, but I didn’t feel like there was much movement in that area since. Anyway, here’s the official Weazel News article regarding the July Town Hall if you want the details.

Zoomies at a Price…

Not just any price, but the price that works for your budget. You’ve probably seen flyers posted throughout the city for Blackbook Zoom for a while now. Blackbook Zoom is a useful website if you’re car shopping. It includes all the vehicles that are available for sale in the city, including their price and dealership location. It even includes information on how much the downpayment and monthly payments would be if you’re planning to finance inside of buying a vehicle outright. The website also has a budget calculator, so it can help you narrow down your options based on your specific budget. Definitely go check out the website, even if you’re not currently looking to purchase a new vehicle.

Update with the McFall/Cain Case…

It’s been a hot minute. Weazel News provided a bit of an update on 2023-CM-163 since the court ruling day about a month ago. The update also includes the final opinion of the court, which I think is worth the read.

Bohan Opens Again (in Maxine’s words)…

The grand re–opening of Bohan after several months of closure is the biggest feeling of euphoria that I’ve had in ages. Both DJ Spooky and Dante Gravina were the entertainment for the night, and both of them performed exceptionally well. Dante’s music maintained a vaporwave-chillwave techno theme that overall kept the heat bumping and the crowd moving and grooving. Meanwhile, DJ Spooky produced a never-ending remix of popular pop songs with pop hits such as Cupid by Fifty-Fifty, Flowers by Miley Cyrus, and Boy’s a Liar featuring Ice Spice and PinkPantheress.

Over forty people turned out, and the room was relatively packed for the majority of the time the event ran. I spoke with Donny Damino, Bohan’s current owner and CEO, who told me the number of people in attendance blew his mind.

“I was expecting a decent one. This, however, absolutely blows my expectations. I’m really excited to see what the future brings. I just want to give everyone a good time.”

Perhaps I’m too much of a sentimental and empathetic person, but his astonishment may make me almost tear up a little bit. I’m happy to see one of the best clubs out there staying strong. Damino hopes to see the same audiences at future events. Bohan is here to stay!

Thank you, Maxine, for sharing with us! Now, back to me!

Tortuga’s At It Again…

It’s been a while since I last wrote about Tortuga, and this time isn’t really me writing about it either. My colleague Daffodil was at the Tortuga Deep Dive Cleanup event earlier this week on Tuesday, and she wrote about the cleanup efforts as well as what we can do to help.

Stella’s Recommendation of the Week…

I’ve been telling myself to update my ICE (In Case of Emergency) contacts for months, like literal months. The last time I updated mine was probably at Eclipse Medical, which tells you how long ago that was. I finally updated mine this Monday when I found myself at the hospital alone after a stranger transported me from the middle of Great Ocean Highway. It was a great reminder for me to update my ICE contacts, and I’m glad I did because accidents happen and you can’t always plan for those! Preparedness is key!

Have a Stella Day and a hardcore night, San Andreas!
