Analysis: MinJun Kwon And Blaine Fantana

MinJun Kwon is a unique character on the scene and unknown to the political theatre of the state. The Kwon campaign has started slowly but is making progress with feedback in the community being somewhat positive. MinJun’s performance at the debate was striking amongst some heavy and consistent backlash over his running mates’ previous criminal history.
Based upon the debates, their policy book is quite standard. From business promotion to a people focus, similar punch line to other campaigns. Their advertisements do stand out compared to the other campaigns with the tagline “Let’s make Los Santos RICH again.” This is not repeated or built upon however it can be inferred that it has everything to do with building businesses and commerce relations.
We asked all the Governor candidates to send over their ‘platforms.’ This is MinJun’s opening lines
My goal once I become Governor is to form unity within the government agencies in better working together with each other. I believe there needs to be constant open communication and that starts at the top with the Governor, and I am willing to always have open dialogue to achieve a goal. With a government working in unison, I believe it will cut out a lot of delays and wasted time in between that seems to be the norm within governments. I see this as freeing up valuable time for the government employees which I hope they would use to then reach out to the rest of the community of Los Santos.

Based on this we can infer that the candidate is taking the ‘Endeavour Jackson’ approach to politics, by engaging with small business and making commerce a top priority for their policies. Focusing on small businesses is never a negative thing, but if it is the only major policy you have, you are going to run into other issues as government is not just about small business interactions. Running with only a handful of policies is a dangerous game, but if you gamble it right it could pay off. In these final hours all the candidates should really emphasise their policies before campaigning cuts off at 8pm.
Due to the public outcry at the debates Weazel went and looked back at the public record for all candidates, out of the governor candidates the Kwon candidates were the only ones who have had a court case past that can be expanded upon. We found a civil case against the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office which contains a copy of an arrest report regarding a store robbery. According to the report:
When deputies responded to Sandy Shores for a store robbery, Blaine MinJun “MJ” Kwon and [two] others were inside the store with a hostage robbing the store. After a brief negotiation the [four] suspects got into a car and led officers on a pursuit. […] Officers returned fire and blaine was downed inside the car. “MJ” left the car and ran on foot where he was told multiple times to stop running or he would be shot, MJ failed to comply with officer demands and was shot twice in the back and then collapsed from his injuries.
Police Report – 30th October 2021 by deputy J. house
Also according to a medical report MinJun was shot four times, with one bullet avoiding a ballistic vest being worn, requiring serious medical attention. The civil lawsuit was for punitive damages, arguing that
At no point did Mr. Kwon have a firearm in his possession, nor was he charged with possession of a firearm, and never had one to put away as he had claimed. Mr. Kwon had never shown any type of aggression towards the Deputies while having his hands up during the entire ordeal and being shot in the back.

The civil case was dismissed by request of MinJun ‘due to lack of interest’ and a personal ‘toll.’ These concerns were addressed at the debates where MinJun said that they were both reformed.
As was already reported, Blaine Fantana plead guilty to murdering Sergeant Brian Archer in August 2021. According to previous reporting, the charge was of Second Degree Murder and Blaine was sentenced to life however he was granted parole in September 2021 with the parole policies expiring on the 20th of October.
As mentioned above he was also involved with the store robbery and plead guilty to the charges.
Aside from the issues brought up at the debate not much is known about Blaine Fantana. Karly Stark mentioned during the debate that he still introduced themselves as a ‘cop-killer.’ The Kwon campaign had this to say about their running mate.
With my Lt Governor Blaine Fantana, he has stated he wishes to work more closely with the government agencies that are looking to help the down and out of the community, such as DHS and the work the Park Rangers are doing. He hopes to look for more services we can provide to better others. Blaine also hopes to work more with the mentally and criminally ill within the city and really focusing on getting them the help they need. He has experience working with them, and believes there are things that can be done beyond therapy in helping them readjust to society.
Overall, their campaign is the normal political campaign but at a slower pace, building upon existing connections and more personal relations rather than broad political party rallies. The criticism surrounding prior criminal history and the murder of Sergeant Brian Archer has taken a toll against the campaign, and potentially comes down to a poor choice in running mate. It feels like the public has made up it’s mind about the campaign, but politics are nothing but usual in this state, so do not count the MinJun campaign out just yet.

We are here for the people and if you don’t have time for the people then what are we even accomplishing? I will be hands on as much as I possibly can if elected and help guide others as best to my ability in achieving a common goal.
I also would like to look into helping small businesses more. I’ve been out talking with business owners since before I had even thrown my name into the running and their concerns are something I would like at put effort into fixing. Obviously nothing will happen over night, but like the plan for government agencies working together, over time I feel everyone can be successful once dialogue is opened. Business owners need our help, but they also need to be willing to help each other. Unity in this world will get us all much further towards our goals, and if I need to be the glue to bind others, I will be there for them.
